The Earth as Presence
For a long time, the Earth has been understood as a physical space, a territory where life takes place. But that way of looking at it is incomplete. The Earth is an energy that sustains everything we are, a presence that runs through our experience even when we are not fully aware of it.
Human Figure and Nature: A Single Identity
In my painting, the human figure and nature do not appear as separate. Face, landscape, and energy share the same territory, as parts of a single, expanded identity. It is not about placing a person “inside” the landscape, but about showing that quiet continuity in which the body and the Earth recognize themselves as the same presence.
Watercolor and Color as Language
Watercolor allows me to come closer to that vibration. Color flows, expands, and organizes the scene according to an order that depends not only on form, but also on the atmosphere that holds it. Through transparencies, nuances, and paths of color, the painting becomes a language capable of suggesting inner rhythms, frequencies, and movements.
How the Earth Appears in My Watercolors
In my watercolors, the Earth becomes visible in many ways:
- light finding its way through the face,
- branches that embrace and hold,
- shapes that suggest inner movement and presence,
- colors that speak of shared rhythms and frequencies,
- lines that remind us that everything is connected.
Each scene offers a different way of perceiving that presence: sometimes the Earth seems to emerge from within the body; at other times, the landscape feels almost like an extension of the skin.
When the Earth Ceases to Be Scenery
Thinking of the Earth as energy changes how we understand an image and how we relate to our surroundings. The Earth stops being a backdrop for things to happen and reveals itself instead as a vibrational field that sustains us, a living presence that accompanies us in our inner processes.
Painting from This Vision
Painting from this vision allows beauty to become an experience of connection. It is remembering that each of our breaths is also the breath of the Earth, and that when we contemplate an image, we can return, for an instant, to that place where everything comes together: face, energy, vibration, and life.
Thinking of the Earth as energy opens up a visual language of its own, a different way of understanding creation, and a more conscious way of being in the world. In this way of seeing, the Earth is not a landscape but presence; it is much more than a context: it is the ground from which everything is manifested.
